About the role

Join Formlabs if you want to bring ground-breaking professional 3D printers to the desktop of every designer, engineer, researcher, and artist in the world.

As a Software Engineer on the Business Systems, you will build the software that runs the company: the integrations, automations, internal tools, and platform extensions behind how we sell, ship, bill, and account for 3D printers used worldwide. You will write production code across our core business platforms (NetSuite, Salesforce, Shopify, and our GCP-based data platform) and see your work used by colleagues across Finance, Sales, Service, Marketing, and Operations.

This role is built for early-career engineers, including recent graduates, who learn fast and want real ownership early. Rather than joining a single tool team on day one, you will work across several parts of our Systems department, building breadth with the opportunity to go deeper into multiple areas such as Financial Systems, Digital Systems, Data Engineering or Integrations. We hire for slope over specialized tool experience: we care more about how quickly you learn and how well you ship than about which platforms you already know.

You will join the Systems team, which enables all Formlabs teams with enterprise applications, infrastructure, data, and security to do their best work. The team supports all areas of the company, has team members globally, and reports to the CIO.

This role is based in our Somerville, MA office and will be a hybrid role with the expectation of at least 3 days a week in office.

The Job

  • Build and Ship: Write, test, and deploy production code in TypeScript/Node.js and Python: system integrations, workflow automations, internal tools, and extensions to platforms like Shopify, Salesforce, and NetSuite.
  • Learn the Landscape: Work on real projects across our portfolios (Financial Systems, Digital Systems, and Data Platform) to understand how data and transactions flow from a customer order through fulfillment, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Connect Systems: Build and maintain APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines that move information reliably between our eCommerce, CRM, ERP, and data warehouse.
  • Engineer with AI: Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex as a core part of how you work, and help build AI-supported workflows that make the business faster.
  • Own the Lifecycle: Take work from problem definition and requirements with business stakeholders through design, testing, CI/CD, and deployment, and support what you ship in production.
  • Raise the Bar: Follow and improve our engineering standards: version control, code review, automated testing, and clear documentation, so what we build is easy to maintain.
  • Grow Your Path: Work with your manager to identify where you can have the most impact and build depth toward a focused engineering role within Systems.

Also

You

  • Early in Your Career: 0–3 years of professional software engineering experience, including internships and co-ops. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Solid Fundamentals: Working proficiency in at least one of Python or TypeScript/JavaScript, with a grasp of core concepts like data structures, APIs, and debugging, plus a willingness to pick up the other.
  • High Slope: A track record of learning quickly and building things, shown through internships, personal or open-source projects, hackathons, research, or coursework that went beyond the assignment.
  • AI-Native: Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar) and good judgment about reviewing and verifying what they produce.
  • Business Curiosity: Genuine interest in how a company actually operates and a desire to understand the business problem, not just the ticket.
  • Ownership & Communication: You take responsibility for outcomes, ask good questions, and can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
