Canonical is hiring for the role of Graduate Software Engineer!

The work

Responsibilities of the Candidate

  • Shape the product roadmap during global in-person sprints every six months and focus on design, user experience, and developer tooling.
  • Write high-quality, resilient, and performant code in languages such as Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript, or Bash.
  • Engage with users and the open-source community through code reviews, issue trackers, and customer issue resolution.
  • Work across various layers of the Linux system—from low-level boot loaders, kernels, and drivers to cloud applications, containers, and Kubernetes clusters.

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in the year 2025 or 2026 in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics or another STEM discipline with programming courses
  • Confidence to write high-quality code in Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript, or Java, along with familiarity with Ubuntu or another Linux distribution.
  • Personal projects in technology and software engineering beyond the curriculum.
  • Professional written and spoken English, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, and accountability.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company sprints.
